Different Types of Laboratory Shakers and Their Uses

The devices that are used to mix liquid in the laboratory are called laboratory shakers. In the laboratory, several types of equipment are used for the purpose of various researchers and development projects and also used for handling the equipment and mixing the chemicals. So laboratory shakers play a major role in carrying the equipment and also handle stirring and mixing of chemicals. To get a better idea we can take a look at types of laboratory Shakers and their uses.

Laboratory shakers play a major role in mixing and stirring while performing different types of experiments as they act as a catalyst which helps to promote the molecular reactions of the chemical substance.  The efficiency of the laboratory shakers is determined by the frequency of utilization and how fast it mixes the chemicals. Depending upon the materials mixed some of the laboratory shakers may be fast and some of them may be slow.

The most popular shaker that is used in the laboratory is magnetic stirrer. Magnetic stirrer replaced the laboratory shakers due to its latest and advanced technologies. Laboratory shakers are double walled conviction units where the outer body is made up of PRPC sheet which is thick and the inner chamber is made up of Stainless Steel. The maximum thermal efficiency in the shaker is maintained by filling the gaps between the two walls with high-grade mineral glass wool. Different types of laboratory shakers and their uses are described below.

3D, Sunflower Mini-Shaker

MR-1, Mini Rocker Shaker

PSU-10i, Orbital Shaker

MPS-1 High Speed Multi Plate Shaker

TS-100, Thermo-Shaker for microtubes and PCR Plates

Magnetic Stirrer: Magnetic stirrer are popular shaker which is made up of a flat base and power cord and the magnetic pellet is coated with plastic to avoid the hindrance of the chemical reaction placed inside the container surrounded by the medium which needs to be mixed. Along with this, a unit is switched on for the functioning of the motor and it is ready to spin. The shift is connected to another magnet that helps to spin the material into the mixing container. The coating also can be done and it is used for reactive and nonreactive purposes.

These shaking machines also come in the form of heating and cooling elements and are used for the catalytic reaction. These are particularly used by chemists. There are different types of mixers as some of them are based on switching technology and some are based on differ shapes and sizes. Some are large platform mixers and some are inverting mixers which are used in microbiology and other biotechnical equipment. These equipments are important in the laboratory.
