Functioning of Incubators

The most important development of equipment in the laboratory, the incubator has provided a base for a number of medical advances of experiment works in cellular and molecular biology. It basically helps in hatching chicken eggs and enables scientists to understand and produce vaccines for deadly viruses. The laboratory incubators have come across several applications in the years it has been in use. Laboratory incubators provide controlled conditions for microbial cultures. They are majorly applied in cytology, bacteriology, microbiology, biomedical fields and genetic engineering, stem cell culture. Incubators are classified into types based on their size and performance. The functioning is compared between laboratory incubators.

Types: Incubators range from top table to bacteriological incubators, biological incubators, cooling incubators and shaking incubators. Biological oxygen demand is designed to analyze the demand for oxygen and for the preservation of vaccines and chemicals that functions under controlled humidity conditions and low temperatures. These devices are majorly used in hospitals, research centers, and nursing homes. The main function is used for incubating samples of saturated oxygen and also for the incubation of bacterial and fungal culture. The main difference is observed between laboratory incubators and high-performance scientific incubatorsThey have interiors made of Stainless Steel and good air circulation and cooling free from chlorofluro carbons.

The device mainly used for the growth and storage of bacteria culture under controlled temperatures ranging from 5 to 7degrees Celsius it is also used for living organisms preservation with a temperature up to 70 degrees.  The bacterial incubators are made of the closed cabinet used for bacterial growth under optimum temperature. These devices help in providing different temperatures of different range and different species of bacteria.

The incubators used for the purpose of incubation and multiplication of cells, tissue culture, aeration of cells are termed as shaking incubators. It also enables mixing of small samples, solubility studies and storage of biological and medical specimens. They provide the proper environment for bacterial growth. There are different types which include orbit shaking incubators, laboratory shaking incubators and benchtop incubators. The orbit shaking incubators are applied in the field of biotechnology, genomics, proteomics and molecular biology. They are used for the cultivation of mammalian cells and they are also termed as environmental shakers. The incubators used for the purpose of cell growth including bacterial culture and tissue culture and yeast under optimum conditions and using shakers to provide oxygen and nutrients throughout the culture media. Benchtop incubators provide an exact temperature for the environment of embryo culture.
